Wedding Photographer in Asheville NC ~ Angela Stott Photography bio picture
  • Thank you for visiting my blog!

I’m Angela Stott, a photographer based in North Carolina. I have a satellite base in Southeast Asia in Bangkok, Thailand where I find myself at intervals. I travel for weddings and portraits wherever they take me.

I’m granted the honor of photographing many beautiful weddings, couples, families and children who entrust me to make artful records of the special moments in their lives. I have such an amazing job and I’m grateful for the passion I have for my work.

I’m also a mother and a native of NC. We moved back from distant places in 2007 to be near family and we are loving the Southern life again.

Enjoy your time here perusing the blog and check back for updates often. Also, dig back - there is a lot of work to see and it’s worth visiting the buried pages. Full weddings are featured here, magazine covers, book and blog features, awards and testimonials….etc. Explore the menu at the top of the page for these. At the bottom of the page you'll find categories highlighting various wedding venues and locations such as Biltmore Estate weddings, Berry Hill Plantation weddings, Virginia Beach weddings and Asheville weddings to name a few.

If you want to see a comprehensive portfolio of my work then please go to the Angela Stott Photography website. You can also find me on Pinterest and Instagram as Angela Stott. I encourage you to please feel free to pin, like, share, tweet and follow!

I love the soft romantic pinks & rosy shades of this Asheville wedding.  Claire’s parents’ home was a beautiful backdrop for Claire and her bridesmaids to get ready before leaving for Arden Presbyterian Church.  Claire and her bridesmaids were full of smiles and laughter – it was great fun being around them while they got ready.  After the ceremony, Claire and her groom, Hayden enjoyed a lively reception at The Venue in downtown Asheville.  Here is Part One of Claire and Hayden’s beautiful Asheville wedding.  Be sure to return to the blog soon for more images of their day.

Caroline and Kenneth’s beautiful Hawk and Ivy wedding will usher in a fresh start on the blog.  I haven’t posted in a while, but that doesn’t mean that I haven’t been busy photographing weddings, portraits, engagements, and bridals etc etc etc.

In fact, I have a ton of unpublished blog posts that are finished and ready to share.  They have been sitting in the queue for over a year, waiting for me to click the “publish” button.  The only reason I haven’t released them is that I have to write “copy” (text) to accompany the images.  And that’s the tricky part.  I don’t like writing copy.  If only Google would let the images speak for themselves.

Caroline and Kenneth have been married for a few years now – and they have a darling baby boy.  I’ve enjoyed spending time with Caroline and Kenneth – we have a sweet ritual of going to Dobra Tea to catch up every so often.  (It has been too long though.  It’s time to set a date, Caroline!)  Here is Part One of their lovely Hawk and Ivy wedding.  Come back soon for more!

Be sure to visit Part Two and Part Three of Caroline and Kenneth’s wedding.  The party moves from the garden, to the meadow for the ceremony then to the Hawk and Ivy barn for the reception.

Thanks to all the wedding vendors!

BAMBI magazine is one of the most highly read magazines for English speaking parents of small children in Thailand.  BAMBI stands for Bangkok Mothers and Babies International.  The organization itself is like nothing else.  Soon after arriving in Bangkok, having barely recovered from the dizzying traffic, noise and pollution, I found this vital and thoroughly well-organized network of parents, babies, and children.  BAMBI playgroups could be found on any day in any area of the city.  Big social events, fundraisers, service projects and educational events are thriving in Bangkok for the benefit and because of the English-speaking members of this incredible organization.  Bumps & Babies, an off-shoot of BAMBI is also a great resource for parents who are pregnant and looking at their options for birth in Bangkok.

For those who’ve lived as an expat in multiple Asian cities, Bangkok of all places is known as a respite.  The reason for this is the networking among expats in Bangkok is unparalleled, much because of the work of BAMBI.  It brings people together; it brings new parents together.

I started photographing for the magazine then (2003).  Here is the most recent BAMBI cover I shot (January 2009).  I plan to revisit old covers periodically as I blog.

It was a gorgeous winter day with the most perfect light and a lovely couple, bridal party and guests.  After getting ready at the ALOFT in downtown Asheville, the wedding party took a trolley for a traditional Grace Episcopal Church wedding in Asheville, NC.  Grace Episcopal is a beautiful stone church set on top of a hill overlooking the busy street of Merrimon Avenue.   It wasn’t hard to find the perfect setting for portraits of Logan, a Charleston SC bride, and her bridesmaids. Logan’s father was drawn to happy tears when he saw his beautiful daughter for the first time in her wedding gown. The ceremony was full of heart and beauty and Logan and Lawton emerged from the sanctuary so very very happy – married at last!  Be sure to visit all of the previous blog posts featuring Logan and Lawton’s wedding journey: Logan and Lawton’s engagement portraits, Logan’s bridal portraits (Part One and Part Two), and the first wedding day post. And come back for more!  The day continues…
